Cooking is a messy business, no doubt about that. It is also one of the most enjoyable messes you can make. How many other messes lead to something yummy for your tummy? People often say that cooking as simply creating art with food, creating art that you judge with your taste buds. And those people are spot on right. Cooking is great fun, it is an art form and it is liberating. Yes, it can be all of that even if you are only a housewife cooking for a hungry family.

Your cooking is your art and your enamel cast iron cookware is your paintpushes and pencils. The biggest problem with cooking up a storm and creating in the kitchen is the mess and devastation left in your wake. Unfortunately, the artist is usually responsible for cleaning up too.

Now, scrubbing the rest of the kitchen and utensils used may be a peeze, but your enamel cast iron cookware is a horse of a different color. If you want to prolong the life and get the best use out of your enamel cast iron cookware you need to care for it.

Cleaning With Care

Porcelain enamel cast iron cookware is always a firm favorite. But, if you do not look after your cookware in cleaning as well as storage you are not going to have long lived joy. You might not get much joy out of it. It would also be a shameful waste of money, especially if you have a top pand like Lodge cast iron cookware. When you are going to clean your enamel cast iron cookware you need to run warm water into the sink. Scalding hot won t do anymore good so warm is just fine.

You can let your enamel cast iron cookware soak in the warm water for a while to soften any burnt on bits and bobs left over from cooking. Once the remnants of food have softened and you can easily wipe them off with a soft sponge, start cleaning. Don t use a scourer or other apasive and scratchy materials, a soft sponge should do the trick nicely.

After all your enamel cast iron cookware is non-stick. Clean the inside and the outside, not forgetting the handles. Precede to towel dry your enamel cast iron cookware with a dish towel and pack away. It really is as easy as that to keep your beautiful cookware clean and in tiptop shape.
