The Cost of Excellence: Calphalon Cookware Set

24.06.2009 14:33

When considering buying a Calphalon cookware set, individuals must be ready to spend over one hundred dollars on the set and often up to four hundred dollars, depending on the size of the set. Calphalon cookware sets are known for their quality, much like some of the copper cookware sets that are on the market today.

The Calphalon cookware sets all contain products that are made of stainless steel. However, the steel in the set is layered with aluminum which is a good conductor of the heat source. The stainless steel that is used in the pans is of surgical grade and the aluminum is a heavy gauge to stand up over the course of time. The core of these pans is the aluminum, which in other types of cookware sets is only found in the bottom of the pans. What sets the Calphalon cookware set apart from the others is that the aluminum also goes up the sides of the pans so that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the pan for ease when cooking.

Items in the Set

When choosing a Calphalon cookware set, there is almost always a lifetime warrantee on the set so that if there are any problems that are due to the construction of the set, the piece will be replaced for free. The sets are all made to be dishwasher safe, which makes the cleaning of the pans and pots in the set very simple. When choosing the size of the Calphalon cookware set, the individuals will want to consider what their typical cooking habits are. This will determine the sizes and types of pots and pans that are needed in the set.

There are some Calphalon cookware sets that only come with the stock pots and pans. There is usually some sort of sauce pan with a cover and there is usually a stock pot with a cover as well. Often there is also a fry pan and a saute pan that is also included in the set.

What is not always included are the specialty pans, such as the different sizes in omelet pans that are available. In the larger Calphalon cookware sets, there are usually two sizes of omelet pans  the eight inch and the ten inch. There are also usually three sizes of sauce pans  the one and a half quart, two and a half quart and the four and a half quart. In addition, there is a three quart saute pan with a cover in these larger sets as well as a six quart stock pot with a cover. In some cases there is also a six quart pasta insert for easy removal of the pasta from the pot.
