Shopping for a Cookware Set

24.06.2009 14:33

For those who enjoy cooking, obtaining a cookware set that meets all the needs of the chef is important. Whether it is a Calphalon cookware set or a less expensive version, having a complete set of tools is essential to being able to create masterful dishes in the kitchen. There are some cookware sets that are fairly inexpensive, costing around fifty dollars for a multi-piece set. There are other cookware sets that cost hundreds of dollars that are on the market today. The price of the cookware set is according to the pand and the conditions that the cookware set can be used in. There are some sets that have a lifetime warrantee on them since they are made from such fine materials that the company is sure of their long lasting value. The less expensive sets usually do not come with a long lasting guarantee, since they are often made of materials that will provide non-stick cooking for a period of time but then wear off and get scratched in the long run.

Types of Sets

One type of cookware set is made by Tramontina. It is a fourteen piece set, which means that it has most of the main pots and pans that are needed in the kitchen. Saying that it is a fourteen piece set can be deceiving in any type of cookware set because the fourteen pieces also include the tops to the pans as well as some spatulas or spoons, depending on the set that is being purchased. The Tramontina set is made of non-stick materials so that cooking and cleaning with this set is a peeze.

There is another type of cookware set that is made by Basic Essentials. It is an eighteen piece set and it comes with a lifetime warrantee. Surprisingly, this set costs less than the previous one, only costing about fifty-five dollars for everything. The base of the set is made of a five layer encapsulated material so that the heat is distributed evenly through it. The set is made of stainless steel so that it is long lasting and will hold up to constant use.

Another type of cookware set is made of enamel, which usually means that the hard coat enamel is put on top of the base materials in the set. These sets are usually more expensive than the others, running at least one hundred dollars depending on the size and pand of the set. There are other cookware sets that are made of copper, cast iron and other materials that match the preference of the cook. Cast iron is very heavy, but it also helps to hold and distribute the heat evenly across the pan when cooking, thus giving the ability to have an evenly cooked meal.
